Practical Verse: Preventing Poeticide
In thinking of didactic verse,
You’d think this teacher was a shoo-in,
But truthfully, it could hardly be worse,
It could lead to her poetic ruin;
For while she is bossy and knowing and wise,
This teacher now faces a problem:
She sorted all day through student whining and lies
And, tired, now risks writing pablum.
Her advice to you, then, is on how to prevent
A blog failure of epic proportions:
Don’t consent or relent when students give vent
And you’ll have energy to fight verse contortions.
