Swearing (In)
Words that give a thrill,
illicit litany, sin,
promise me, vow now
that you’ll let me speak
my filthy, angry, sharpened
tongue and mind—those words.

This poem was born of my R post about Prince and consideration of the power of “forbidden” words, including swear words. Despite growing up in a religious home, I have developed a bit of a foul mouth. I appreciate my friends who understand this is a part of me and who love me anyway.
This post is a blend of the A to Z Blog Challenge and NaPoWriMo. To read other A to Z bloggers, click here. Today’s poem is off prompt; I didn’t feel like writing about Earth Day, despite my love of the occasion.
I think I use a lot of swear words in my mind; once in awhile one will come out. I know after having kids I had to really tone them down so that’s probably when I started swearing in my head 🙂
good luck with the rest of the challenge! Almost to the end!

Oh, I use them in my mind like crazy, but any more they tend just to spill out. LOL. I never had kids, and my cats don’t care…though I do try to control my mouth in the classroom. Hahaha!
I’m so glad you stopped by to read and comment! I’ve toured around your blog some–LOVE the cover/header image!–but will be back to leave some comments.
Being a fan of the “more colorful metaphor”, I whole-heartedly approve. Well done!
What is this “metaphor” you speak of? LOL!
You captured the duality beautifully and that picture makes me laugh
Thank you! Thanks for steering me into the right photo choice! You were absolutely right about it.
