This is my first cheat of my A-to-Z / NaPoWriMo blend. The poem I want to write has nothing to do with the letter K, and nothing for the letter K is ready in coming. Thus…
K is for Kaye…
That is, Kaye Marion Campbell, 8-year-old poet whose work, “The Whispering of the Wind,” was featured recently on Rattle.com‘s Young Poet’s Anthology. She writes about the secret of the wind and its messages. It is brief and fabulous. You can read her poem in full here. I hope you do.
Oh, look, I made my poem a K poem anyway…
Kryptonite in the Fortune Cookie
The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.
Good things come to those who wait.
You will enjoy good health.
Keep your face to the sunshine and you will never see shadows.
The night life is for you.
No one can walk backwards into the future.
Happy life is just in front of you.
A soft voice may be awfully persuasive.
Listen not to vain words of empty tongue.
Listen to everyone. Ideas come from everywhere.
Be careful. Straight trees often have crooked roots.
You have a yearning for perfection.
Your ideals are well within your reach.
Better is the enemy of good.
You will make change for the better.
This post is a blend of the A to Z Blog Challenge and NaPoWriMo. To read other A to Z bloggers, click here. Today’s NaPoWriMo prompt was to write a poem inspired by fortune cookies. Don’t forget to add “in bed” (or possibly “except in bed“).
